Garden products – start using viral marketing
In a growing trend, consumers are spending more on doing up their homes, including their gardens, rather than considering moving houses.
Email viral marketing
Online giant B&Q has recently run a viral marketing campaign which saw the company send out thousands of email messages to customers showing them how they could get hold of discount vouchers. Recipients had to log on to the company website and register receive a discount voucher. The email encouraged recipients to forward to friends and aimed to provide a viral marketing channel for the company.
Industry analysts believe this type of email marketing campaign can increase website traffic by as much as 50% and has already seen success for Threshers and Gap.
Email marketing is still a very popular marketing technique and if it can be combined with a strategy that offers discount vouchers it can further succeed. Research shows that searches for “discount vouchers” grew by 94% between November and December 2019 in the UK. Popularity for this search term has increased as people are tightening budgets.
E-commerce – convenience and price the decision makers
A breaking article from across the pond shows that that 58% of online consumers chose to shop online due to price while 27% were attracted by the convenience. While based on the United States, there are many parallels to our domestic market.
E-commerce sales are undoubtedly rising but of importance to garden product e-commerce sites, so is the age demographic. Older consumers are increasingly happy to shop online and they will bring a greater spending bracket to garden product sales.
